The Meadow Orchard Project is a community garden, orchard, wildlife meadow and eco-building project located in Crouch End, North London. The project was established to inspire and cultivate a creative, healthy and sustainable local community, drawing upon permaculture ethics and principles.
The project welcomes volunteers and is open every Saturday for general workdays, plus some Fridays for eco-building. They host a range of activities and community events where you can learn new skills, meet others and enjoy being in nature. You can sign up as a friend of the meadow on their interactive social network site to receive regular updates of events and workdays and you can post up blogs, comments, photos and film clips too.
EDIBLE LANDSCAPES LONDON is a volunteer-led project which aims to help Londoners grow more of their own food. They propagate edible plants which are then used on local growing projects. They teach people how to recognise plants, which parts are edible, how to propagate them, how they are grown in a forest garden and even how to cook with them. Their workdays (Monday and Friday) are open to anyone who has an interest in growing and eating food. Shared lunch is at 1pm.
Priory Common Orchard is a low-Maintenance, Edible Community Garden in London N8. In the garden community members are growing low maintenance fruit & veg, grafting trees, chatting to passers-by, drinking tea etc... It's an excellent example of a community space facilitating local food.

FOOD from the SKY is a world first – A pioneering Permaculture food growing and educational initiative on the roof top of Thornton’s Budgens supermarket, Crouch End, North London. 'A new template for our future'.
They grow fresh vegetables, herbs and fruits to organic standard that are harvested and sold 10 meters below to the Thorntons Budgens supermarket. 10 meters from Soil to Shelf!
Naturewise Forest Garden
The Naturewise Forest Garden sits quietly in the grounds of Margaret McMillan Nursery School in the London Borough of Islington. In 1995, inspired by the vision of Robert Hart, volunteers associated with the permaculture group Naturewise designed and planted a bare lawned area in the school grounds with a variety of trees, herbs and vegetables. Since then the garden has produced leaves and nuts and berries which have been enjoyed by children attending the school, and visitors both human and not. The garden continues to be tended by volunteers who share the vision of Hart .
